1. Taking Showers
I remember cherishing every moment of my shower after he was just one week old. They don’t always happen, and when they do they are so relaxing! I have to be careful not to take a shower mid day now, otherwise I may be tempted to take a nap afterward.
2. Fixing my Hair
It is a rare occasion if my hair isn’t in some sort of ponytail/bun. It’s not that I don’t have time to do it. It’s that when I do have time, I find myself doing more important things rather than fixing my hair.
3. Intimacy with my Husband
By the time we both crawl into bed after a long day, we end up falling asleep after one peck on the cheek. (I Must add that this is getting better since I originally came up with the post idea )
4. Grocery Shopping
It is difficult to know if he is going to be content during my shopping trip. Not to mention fumbling between coupons, comparing prices, and making sure you bought everything you need. It just takes WAY longer than doing it alone. The Whole Foods in Sugar Land has childcare while you shop! (not for infants though) I may be frequenting this store when we are able to use the childcare.
5. Shaving my Legs
Again, not that I don’t have time, I just want to relax in my shower time rather than ‘doing’ another thing.
6. Uninterrupted Naps
I think its a very rare occasion that Moms get naps. I remember the days where I could take a nap on a day off and enjoy it for however long I wanted.
7. Shopping at multiple free standing stores
I totally understand Malls now. You only have to get out of the car ONE time.
8. Going on a Trip longer than 30 minutes
Some babies fall asleep the instant they get in the car. Not the case for baby H. Therefore long road trips normally result in a cry fest. Poor Fella 🙁
9. The size of my Trunk
With the jogging stroller, pack n’ play, luggage and all of the other ‘gear’.. suddenly a large car trunk isn’t so large anymore. I NOW understand with families with only one child opt for a suburban.
10. Sleeping In
The best thing about my life is that everyday is Saturday, because everyday is pretty much the same. However, Saturday is no longer a day to sleep in. 5am, 6am… sometimes in the middle of the night. I haven’t set an alarm clock since May!
I hope some of my new Mom friends can relate and laugh with me on this. This is by no means a complaint list, just the FACTS of life changing with the birth of a child. If anything it is a reminder to not take for granted each and every day I get to spend with my sweet baby boy. I am 100% thankful and blessed to be able to be a full time Mama!
