It’s happening so fast. Jane Elise is already shared 1/2 a year of life with us. Her personality is starting to show, and its pretty precious. She’s a very calm, relaxed baby until she decides she wants something then she lets you know right. a. way. Her cry does NOT escalate its just immediately full blown. As long as you are in the room with her and she’s fed, she completely content with a toy or book sitting in one spot on the floor. So much different than Harrison. It’s fun to look back and compare to Harrison’s six month update.
Her six month update:
Weight : 16 lbs 15oz
Height: 26 in.
Head: 42.5 cm.
Eating: She loves to nurse and only nurse. She is officially on bottle strike when it comes to milk. She drank a few ounces of water from a bottle but will not drink milk! She’s still eating every 3-4 hours, with longer stretches during the night. We started a combo of baby led weening, and purees. She’s had butternut squash, pears, prunes, sweet potatoes, and regular potatoes. She also is self feeding with mum mums.
Sleeping: With a good routine of a bath, peace and calming essential oil foot rub, a swaddle and a pacifier she puts herself to sleep fairly easily. Falling asleep isn’t the issue, it’s staying asleep! We are still doing the ‘dream feed’ because she is waking up around 11 – 12am and then she will wake again at 3. On days that she eats quite a few solids she doesn’t wake up ! She mostly rolls to her tummy and her side to sleep these days.
Teeth: She’s starting to get two teeth on the bottom, but nothing has poked through. She’s been gnawing on her hands, sophie and anything she can get in her mouth on. STILL no teeth! (same as last month)
Nicknames: Miss Jane, Baby Jane, The baby Jane
Diapers: Mostly in cloth! Wearing smallest setting of bum genius & flip diapers. She’s wearing size 3 disposables quite a bit if we are going to be out for awhile.
Clothes: She’s wearing size 6-12 in baby gap, and anything from bigger size 6 months to 12 months clothes in other brands.
Loves: She loves the jump-a-roo! She is always jumping even if you just hold her she bounces. She also likes to stand rather than sit or be on her tummy. She’s also a big fan of books, anything that makes noises and anyone who wants to tell her she is pretty.
Dislikes: She’s not a huge fan of being on her tummy for too long. She’d much rather roll around than stay on her tummy.
Things to Remember: Jane got her DOC band right after she turned 5 months old. It’s almost like a helmet and will help with her ‘flat head’. Day one was difficult but after that its been a breeze. It stinks just from sweat since she has to wear it 23 hours out of the day but other than that it doesn’t seem to be a bother to her.
Milestones: She is sitting up all on her own right after she turned 5 months and 1 week. She has a strong core. She also likes to stand up all the time with assistance. She will hold onto a table for about 2 minutes on her own and stand. She really has no interest in crawling but she is holding her head and upper body up well when she lays on her tummy.
