We’re moving! Again.
In the last year and a half we’ve moved quite a few times (1 big, 4 small to be exact). This time we’re diving straight into the craziness will full confidence. Moving with small children isn’t an easy task, and can easily cause (unneeded) stress for your family! Today, I’m sharing some of our best strategies for moving with small children– hopefully, these will help keep the stress down. Thanks to a partnership with Viva® Vantage® we’re rethinking the way we use paper towels in our newest move to help us all master moving with small children.
A few things I have learned along the way that may save you a few headaches and arguments:
- Start Packing Yesterday! Even if you aren’t sure when your actual move date is, it’s best to proactively pack. Putting things that you won’t miss away while you prep to sell your home like: past seasons clothes, home decor, extra linens and towels. Small children drag out the packing process by giving us small windows of time to pack, so take advantage of these small sprints of time by packing.
- Purge, Purge, Purge. In the process of packing, you may find items that you really don’t use anymore. Instead of packing them away, get rid of them! Do whatever you can to get rid of unnecessary items. After you think you’ve gotten rid of everything you possibly don’t use, check again and give away more. The reality is, you probably won’t miss them in the long run. My motto is: The less you have to pack, the easier.
- Pack to Unpack. Organize your boxes in the order in which you will use them upon arrival to your new destination. Label them in order of importance. Grab a few empty boxes and rather than filling them with like things, fill them with items based on necessity. What are the first things that you will need upon arrival? Rather than opening 10 boxes to eat a meal in your new destination, open one filled with one multi-purpose pan, silver ware, cups, one spatula and a roll of Viva® Vantage® paper towels to serve as plates, napkins, as well as a fruit and veggie stainer and scrubber! With small children you most likely won’t have the opportunity to unpack all at once. It’s vital to have a slow unpacking plan that doesn’t create more chaos. We’re also switching things up by adding Viva® Vantage® paper towels in-between plates and around glasses to prevent breaks plus they will double as an excellent lint-free way to clean the dishes when you are unpacking! Killing two birds with one stone, is something you always need when small children are involved. With every box that you pack, remember that someone will have to unpack it.
- Easy Cleaning Strategy. News flash: small children make messes! Are you prepared? I completely switched up my quick clean moving strategy with Viva® Vantage® paper towels. Dusting: I especially love them on the bottom of my quick dusting mop. They are far cheaper than the pads that were designed for this purpose and they are just as effective too! DIY Wipes: Cleaning wipes are clutch when it comes to cleaning up the mess of small children on the fly. Making your own is a fabulous way to cut costs, and keep them all-natural, plus you’d be surprised that with Viva® Vantage® ‘s great scrubbing power they even work better! I simply cut the paper towel roll in 1/2, place it inside any container, mix together 1 tablespoon of Young Living’s thieves cleaner, 1/2 cup vinegar, and 1/2 cup water, then pour into the middle of the paper towel roll. Let sit for 30 minutes, so the liquid can soak into the towels, and then gently pull out the middle cardboard and begin using your wipes!
I got the opportunity to attend a live Viva® Vantage® event, where I was wowed by the versatility of this product! There we got to experience the product hands on, and learn about all of the different non-traditional paper towel uses. It was a delightful morning filled with yummy eats and new knowledge to take home.
I didn’t imagine I’d learn to use a paper towel to scrub vegetables, use it as a veggie and fruit strainer, OR under a cutting board to prevent slippage! These paper towels take scrubbing to a whole new level! They don’t fall apart like your average, run-of-the-mill paper towel. I can’t wait to switch things up even more after our move.
Whether you’re moving or staying put, I encourage you to switch up your current paper towel with Viva® Vantage® paper towels. They are challenging consumers to think outside of the box and switch up their normal routine by trying Viva® Vantage® paper towels for their 7-day switch up program. After experiencing the cloth-like textured, stretchy-strength, great scrubbing paper towels you can enter for a chance to instantly win $100!
A special thanks to Viva® Vantage® for sponsoring this post, all opinions and suggests are my own.
