I’m late in sharing this week, but I’ve still got plenty of great meal ideas to share with you.
This month we are trying out an all time low grocery budget of $300! This budget includes paper products, diapers, and cleaning supplies. The good news is, we mostly cloth diaper, we limit our paper product use, and we DIY the majority of our cleaning products. We are primarily eating on a vegan diet (absolutely ZERO animal products), which does help cut costs. While we eat lots of organic produce & products, it isn’t all organic. Here are 7 tips for shopping organic on a budget.
Where We Shop:
Kroger. Be sure to add their app to your smart phone for easily download coupons that you don’t have to think about when you are checking out, they will automatically discount your bill when you use your Kroger card.
Wal-Mart. This is our closest store, so if we need last minute items this is our place. They have actually started carrying a very reasonably priced organic line called Wild Oats.
Aldi. Here we find several of our staple food items and even produce for a fraction of the prices at Kroger or leading grocery stores.
Thrive Market. Since most stores are a distance away, it’s incredibly convenient to have well priced staples delivered to my door step. They offer a great discount on your first order + free items and shipping with an order under a specific price point! You can get your own discount code by clicking here. ((I’ll be sharing more about thrive as my orders come in))
COSTCO. We no longer live close to one, so this is only an occasional trip, but we love their prices and selection on fresh, organic, and natural products.
Here’s this week’s Menu:
Monday// Chunky Vegan Bean Chili + Rice made exactly per package instructions
Tuesday// Stuffed Baked Potatoes with homemade black beans (I used black beans that I freezed from a few weeks back)
Wednesday// Crock Pot Pinto Beans (I used this recipe without the dumplings, it took about 12 hours to cook on low, so we ate Amy’s frozen burritos instead)
Thursday// Pinto Beans with Cilantro Lime Cauliflower Rice
Saturday// Easy Chicken + Veggie Roast
Sunday// Brown Rice Ramen Stir Fry , We get the Brown Rice Ramen at Costco or Thrive Market
* When I make big batches of dry beans, I will freeze some of the leftovers for lunches and to use in recipes that call for 1 can of beans, etc.
Will mostly be leftovers , sometimes amy’s frozen burritos
Acai Smoothie Bowls like this. Oatmeal, Oatmeal, Oatmeal. Granola Bars
